Put it all in perspective: Credit Crunch, Weather, Referrals.
I took this picture at Chichester Harbour on Monday. The beach around the harbour is at Langstone just north of Hayling Island. When I saw this, I was struck by the effect of the perspective. The wall is quite long as you can see by the two figures at the end of it. The tree, is normal tree size, all bent and frazzled as a result of being next to the sea and blown around by the salty winds. But it seems to stretch the entire length of the wall and looks completely out of proportion as a result. The branches seem to be touching the people.
Monday was a bank holiday, so starting at the pub we went for a walk out around the harbour and back through the woods. Oddly the path also takes you through a children's cemetery. Needless to say, as this was an August bank holiday, it was cloudy, windy, rainy and generally not summer. Trudging through the mud, in the wind and rain it was easy to get downcast and glum. Credit-crunches, (like abdominal crunches: they thin the waist), looming recession, VAT bills, it all looks so negative. So now that not-summer is nearly over, the nights are getting longer and definitely-autumn is nearly here what's needed is something to put it all in perspective.
That's what the photo is for. I bet you feel better already.
Now that everything is back in perspective for you here's the shameless self promotion.
I have updated my bio to reflect my the verbal signature I developed a few weeks ago. After a bit of refinement it reads:
We work for larger SMEs, operating either in the knowledge sector or offering professional services, that are struggling to make good strategy or decisions. Where politics, personalities or entrenched beliefs are preventing the organisation from performing as well as it should due to a lack of buy-in and commitment to the direction of the company. We de-politicise and de-personalise the company's strategising and planning, resulting in high quality decisions, that are understood, supported and effectively communicated between the stakeholders ensuring improved success, and consequently increased profits and reduced costs.
Is this your company? Do you know a company that sounds just like this? Pass them my contact details and I will send you a framed copy of the photo.

Spot on!
Thanks for helping us put all the doom & gloom in perspective!
Your refined verbal signature is also spot on - hit's the nail on the head.
Regards
Vanessa
